The diets, lifestyle changes, goals & motivation tricks aren't working. But, why?

Because conventional wisdom in the healthy eating and living worlds is driven largely by fear, insisting that we must go through life obsessing over trying to force and control our external choices to be healthy and happy.

That's a big problem for three reasons:

  • It Disconnects You.

    It disconnects you from your unique, individual moment-to-moment needs. It forces you into a state of disconnection from yourself and your body. When you're disconnected from yourself in this way, you're also disconnected from your own individual moment-to-moment needs, leaving you unable to meet those needs because you're not even able to identify what they are. Instead, you end up stuck living in the 'on track' vs 'off track' cycle of trying to force yourself to do what you think you "should-be" doing for your health and happiness rather than what you actually need to support those things.

  • It Keeps You Stuck Chasing a Future That Doesn't Exist.

    It's a never-ending cycle of chasing health and happiness, feeling like you have to keep desperately striving for them but always falling short, all while overlooking the incredible power you possess to influence and shape how you feel in the present moment. The truth is, this moment is all that truly exists. The quality of your life is determined by how you feel right now, which is largely determined by how well you're meeting your current individual mental, emotional, and physical needs. The rigid expectations of eating the 'right' things, in the 'right' amounts, moving the 'right' ways, and trying force yourself to make choices based what you think you 'should' do to try to achieve some future outcome does nothing but block you from experiencing true health and happiness right now, preventing you from ever really accessing the very things you keep chasing.

  • It Ignores Your Why.

    It ignores the driving forces behind why you make the choices you make. What drives your current lifestyle? Your day-to-day, moment-to-moment choices. What drives your choices? The things going on in you. Your thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and conditioned patterns of behavior and they do so almost completely subconsciously so you're not even really aware of it. You're just going through life repeating the same thoughts, beliefs and patterns on autopilot, feeling unable to shift them because they've become part of your programming.

ECET recognizes that the choices we make are driven by our brains, often completely subconsciously—without conscious intellectual activity (such as thinking, reasoning or remembering) or without connection to the wisdom and communication of our bodies.

A Standard Cognitive Model

ECET uses a standard cognitive model that suggests thoughts, feelings and behaviors are all equally interconnected. 
 
What we think affects how we feel and what we do. What we feel affects what we think and what we do. What we do affects how we feel and what we think.
 
And all three are equally interconnected. A feeling can inspire a thought, an action can modify a feeling and our choices (with food or otherwise) are determined by both.

To be embodied is to be fully connected to and inhabiting your body in the present moment; to be awake and aware of the natural flow of sensations, feelings, and energies that flow through our bodies. 

 

Your body is a natural healer and communicator and the only way you can make choices that best support it is when you're embodied—when you're living fully in your body, in the present—making choices informed by their present moment communication.

About Roni Davis


ECET founder, award-winning coach, speaker, author, and 2x Podcast host.

Roni Davis is the creator of Embodied Cognitive Eating Training (ECET), a powerful, structured method that helps people stop fighting food, weight, and their bodies by addressing the real root of the struggle: the internalized beliefs and behavioral patterns driving it all.

 

A former award-winning personal trainer and nationally qualified figure athlete, Roni spent nearly 30 years trapped in disordered eating, body shame, self-surveillance, gaining and losing weight, and cycles of bingeing, restricting, and obsessing all in the name of “health.” She later spent over a decade studying behavior change, cognitive modalities, mindfulness, and somatics, integrating it all into the development of ECET.

 

Unlike food plans or mindset hacks, ECET guides clients through cognitive, emotional, and somatic work to help them reconnect with their bodies, disrupt self-sabotaging patterns, and make intentional, compassionate choices rooted in presence and self-trust.

 

Through this work, clients find lasting peace with food and their bodies and deeper healing far beyond it. They gain emotional resilience, tools for navigating life without shame or control, and a more grounded, joyful, and meaningful relationship with themselves.
